You did find the two common threads among these shooters: all male, and nearly all faced some perceived sense of loss, typically a humiliation. It's definitely in the perception, though. Why do some people feel intense humiliation, where others can shrug it off. There has been so much fist-waving at the Harris and Klebold parents for not being harder on their kids. But it appears that the real problem is usually something very different than that: an underdeveloped sense of their own innate confidence, or self-worth. (Although Eric Harris is kind of the exception--to just about everything with these killers. There are always outliers, and I'm afraid he's it.)</description>
