It has the Truman Library with its noting President Truman's support of the new Jewish State of Israel in the United Nations. It also has the RLDS (Community of Christ Church) Temple in Independence, a church that is as liberal a branch of Mormonism as Utah Mormonism is Conservative Republican. Unlike Utah Mormon Temples, you (a non-member of that church) can enter the C of C Temple. They have an interesting history, representing the family of the wife of Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder.
