The public Zoom launch of my new book, The Intercessor, is on Wednesday, 29 October, at 5:30 pm ET/4:30 pm CT/3:30 pm MT/2:30 pm PT. On the launch I’ll be in dialogue with Rabbi Diane Elliot, I’ll read excerpts from the book, and we’ll leave plenty of time for questions and discussion.
The conversations so far have been really interesting, with participants wanting to talk about why I wrote the book, the evolution of Jewish Renewal, the mystical practices that feature in the book, and the challenges of building spiritual community in times such as these.
The Intercessor is a novel made up of linked stories, each narrated by a different character. It asks how we make community. As the book unfolds, seven diverse members of the Jewish Renewal movement set out to refresh tradition to benefit the living, showing up in multiple worlds: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. They tell their stories of seeking love and healing, facing ethical and social predicaments, knowing when to join hands and when to walk their own paths.
